California Department of Boating & Waterways (DBAW)

2000 Evergreen St
Ste 100
Sacramento CA 95815-3888

The California Department of Boating and Waterways mission is to provide safe and convenient public access to California's waterways and leadership in promoting safe, enjoyable and environmentally sound recreational boating.
K38’s Shawn Alladio has been a supporter of DBWA community outreach programs for boater education since 1993 when the Director appointed her to a Task Force Committee for PWC related solutions. She network with DBAW for school programs such as assemblies and the award winning Aqua Smart program and was a founding contributor to the Pilot Project RWC program for Law Enforcement in 1997 and P.O.S.T. instructor. Shawn wrote the swiftwater, open and inland waterway programs and trained instructors to manage the program under the guidance of Ms. Mary Thomas. The program ceased production in 2010 and is currently awaiting guidance from DBAW for a clear direction to serve the law enforcement marine units of California.
